Lemarti’s “Tell Me” which features Dufla is his the Kenyan artist’s latest release which is accompanied by a video showcasing some beautiful Kenyan scenery.
Loyapan Lemarti is described on his artist biography as a performing artist, actor, singer-songwriter and professional native tour guide.”
He was born and raised in northern part of Kenya from one of the Nomadic pastoralists tribe of Samburu
Growing up in Samburu as child in the remote northern Kenya, he was inspired by a local musical instrument called Njamunge.
At 13 years old, he was desperate to play the instrument, but wasn’t allowed due to his age. However, this didn’t stop him and he was often punished from sneaking time with the Njamunge.
His music is a blend of Afro reggae, which Lemarti has been making music since his childhood years, initially recording on cassette tapes on analog radio systems. Sometimes, he would gather friends around fire share the musical experience and his wish was to have a place where he could exchange a goat for a music system, which was how he acquired his first recording instrument.
His inspiration comes from his desire to promote his cultural heritage and also address the issues affecting communities in northern region and Kenya.
Lemarti also works as a professional tour guide and has featured in documentaries.
