When a saint’s bones are discovered during an archeological dig in Midsomer Cicely there are huge repercussions in the village, culminating in the dig’s leader being murdered.
Investigating duo DCI John Barnaby (Neil Dudgeon) and DS Charlie Nelson (Gwilym Lee) are presented with a complex investigation as they hunt for the perpetrator.
As the duo unearth more evidence, they soon discover that it is not only skeletons that have been long buried in the hallowed ground.
Possible motives are everywhere from professional rivalry to sibling rivalry and relic rivalry (the bones uncovered by the dig could discredit a martyr’s remains at the local church).
“Be sure that your sins will find you out,” one cleric tells another, which should be the Causton CID mission statement, or emblazoned on Barnaby’s coat of arms.
Ralf Little, Julia Sawalha, Manjinder Virk, Fiona Dolman and Malcolm Sinclair also star in tonight’s episode.
Midsomer Murders: Saints and Sinners is scheduled for broadcast tonight (1 May) at 21.00 on Universal (DStv channel 117), with repeat showings on Monday 2 May at 05.30, Sunday 8 May at 03.15 and 13.10, and Saturday 14 May at 13.10.
