The British High Commissioner to Kenya, Nic Hailey, has recorded a video message sending his best wishes to Muslim communities in Kenya, as the Islamic holy month of Ramadan begins.
His message reads:
“I send my best wishes to Muslim communities in Kenya today as you join together to serve the holy month of Ramadan.
“British Muslims are an integral part of our society, contributing to the UK’s vibrant culture, to our world-leading business community, to our inclusive and diverse politics.
“Of course, the same is true of Kenya’s Muslim communities. Your contribution to Kenyan society is evident across the board.
“Your role in Kenya’s history is profound; so to is your role in Kenya’s future.
“The true values of Islam, which teaches charity, peace, justice and tolerance are values that I know are shared by all Kenyans, and by all of us in the United Kingdom. They bring us together.
“As you enter this holy month, I wish you all peace, happiness and unity to you and your families and friends, Ramadan Mubarak.”
