Aberdeen based charity Gathimba Edwards Foundation (GEF) have succeeded in their fundraising attempt to secure £4,000 in donations to enable them to build a house for a Kenyan family.
Kenyan family Gladys, Isaac and their 9 children live in a house with no walls or furniture in an area which is short of water and where temperatures soar beyond 30 degrees celsius.
Last Monday (10th July) marathon champion runner Wilson Kipsang along with a team of GEF staff and volunteers spent night on the mud floor with the family in an attempt to raise enough money to build them the safe new home they deserve.
After successfully raising the necessary funds, building on the new home for the family will start next week.
In a post on their Facebook post, the charity said: “Thank you so so much for making sure these kids don’t have to live like this for much longer. The house with no walls will be no more.”
If you would like to contribute to the appeal, you can still do so on the charity’s TotalGiving page.
