The BBC have released the first official photo of Jodie Whittaker as she will appear in Doctor Who.
In the photo, Broadchurch and Trust Me star is seen in cropped teal culottes with yellow braces, as well as a striped jumper and long trench coat. Her look is completed with brown boots, blue and turquoise striped socks and some unusual earrings, at the top and bottom of her left ear.
Eagle-eyed fans were quick to point out that the Tardis shown in the image was missing the St John’s Ambulance logo which used to be displayed on the right-hand door. The logo was part of the very first Tardis piloted by William Hartnell’s Doctor, and while it was dropped after 1966, departing showrunner Steven Moffat brought it back for his 2010 Tardis redesign as a way of connecting the show to its original roots.
Jodie, who will be playing the first female Doctor, has already begun filming as the 13th Time Lord. She will be joined by Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole and Mandip Gill, as well as Sharon D Clarke in a returning role. Walsh will star as Graham, Cole will play Ryan and Gill will play Yasmin.
As the 13th incarnation of the Time Lord, Whittaker will take over from Peter Capaldi and will make her debut on screen when the Doctor regenerates in the Christmas special on BBC One.
