British MP Jeremy Lefroy, Chair of the APPG on Kenya, hosted an evening event with the Kenya Society at the Houses of Parliament on Thursday night.
The Stafford MP discussed his personal family connection with Kenya, and his continued love for the country and its people over the years which led him to Chair the APPG on Kenya.
His current priority areas for Kenya are research, technology, manufacturing and trade, and he will be looking for opportunities to integrate his agenda with President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Big 4 Plan for Economic Development which will focus on food security, affordable housing, manufacturing and affordable healthcare.
A Question and Answer session gave attendees the opportunity to ask Mr Lefroy questions in a number of areas including: health, security, trade, visas, international development and relations between the UK and Kenya.
Following the discussion, Kenya Society attendees were taken on a tour of the House of Commons Chamber where they saw some of the gifts presented to Parliament from Commonwealth Countries including Kenya.
Those who joined the tour also learned about the rules of the house, the significance of the Mace and how the voting system works.
