The UK High Commissioner to Kenya, Nic Hailey, has wished a happy Madaraka Day to all Kenyans and expressed his wish that it will be a day of unity, celebration and determination to move the country forward.

Posting to Twitter, the High Commissioner said: “Happy #MadarakaDay to all – may it be a day for all Kenyans of unity, celebration and determination to move this great country forward.”

Madaraka Day is a national holiday celebrated every 1st June of every year in the republic of Kenya. It commemorates the day in 1963 that Kenya attained internal self-rule after decades as a British colony.
