Dependents of British Army Training Unit Kenya (BATUK) personnel have been fundraising to provide shoes for Kenyan school children in Laikipia.

The group, which has become known as “Support for Little Feet” was headed up by Staff Sergeant Jamie Edgell and his wife Linsey and looks set to become a regular opportunity for BATUK families to build strong bonds with local communities in Kenya.

Linsey, assisted by Mrs Amy Wilson, came up with the concept of the group to raise funds to provide the footwear and managed to secure a donation of 70 pairs of shoes from the UK.

Last week, the “Support for Little Feet” group teamed up with the BATUK Community Engagement Team to distribute the donated shoes to over 50 children at Ol-Maisor Primary School in Sosian.

Posting on their Facebook page, BATUK said: “BATUK Community Engagement Team would like to extend the thanks from this children that were helped by this project, to the BATUK wives that have helped so many.”
