The International Development Secretary Penny Mordaunt yesterday visited a family planning clinic in Tanzania with Ummy Mwalimu, the country’s Minister for health, community development, gender, children and the elderly.

Their visit was organised to allow Ms Mordaunt to see how UKaid is supporting Tanzanian women to access modern family planning methods so they can have control over their pregnancies.

Tweeting after the visit, Ms Mwalimu said: “We are grateful for the Department for International Development (DfID) commitment to collaborate with the Government of Tanzania to empower women and girls through scaling up family planning and education support. A warm ‘Karibu’ to Tanzania to the UK International Development Secretary.”
