The British head coach of Gor Mahia, Dylan Kerr, will lead his team out against Everton in a friendly match at Goodison Park in Liverpool this November, SportPesa have announced.
Along with their Ksh 3 million prize money, facing the Toffees is the Kenyan team’s reward for beating Kerr’s former club, Tanzanian outfit Simba SC, 2-0 in the SportPesa Super Cup final.
This won’t be the first time the teams have met. In July 2017, Everton travelled to Kenya where they narrowly beat their hosts 2-1 with Wayne Rooney among the goalscorers after re-joining the team following his departure from Manchester United.
In May, the Kenyan side held newly relegated Hull City to a goalless draw at Nairobi’s Moi International Kasarani Stadium before losing to the English Championship club on penalties.
Kerr’s team are currently top of the Kenyan Premier League by 17 points with a game in hand over second place Bandari.
Although the exact date is yet to be confirmed, it is expected to take place on the 6th or 7th November.
